Today Is The First Day

~ Today Is The First Day ~ By ~ Merope ~

~

Today’s the first day of the rest of my life.

That’s what I’m always told.

Learn from your errors of yesteryear.

For tomorrow’s been bought and sold.

~

Each future step that mourns your path.

Brings you closer to your God.

Each struggled breath that fills your lungs.

Leaves echoes upon your soul.

~

The forbidden fruit you choose to love.

To satisfy your yearning.

Brings nothing with it but fear and doubt.

And constricts your need for learning.

~

Honour and Truth are worlds away.

Respect and Trust just a Lie.

Today’s the first day of the rest of my life.

And tomorrow you might die.

      But tell me.
      Before you go.
      Have we met?
      I’m certain of it.
      No?
      Are you sure?

Perhaps it was in a comments box?

      Tell me.
      Have we met before?
      I know your face.
It is that of a friend.

We wondered if perhaps your comment were asking a rhetorical question, making a statement, or seeking a reply? We decided it was all three. Thank you.

      1. May I call you KM2012?

        Our answer is to ‘breathe.’

Out perspective is a little simplistic perhaps but it seems to work well for all. We are grateful because we have small else to want for whilst needing only food, warmth and shelter. We live richly in our imaginations, stand proudly upon the ground and love the air we breathe. Everything else is orientated towards money. We have great need of money but not greed and little want to have to ask for more.

Quite often at street level we look up from the floor or doorway to say ‘thank you my friend’ whenever pennies fall into our tin tray. We know in time we’ll have enough to afford a cup of coffee and are patient to wait. It tastes better for the lingering tease.

Wishing you a full tin week and a decent cup of coffee. Thank you for comments made.

        Take care.

        Namaste 🙂

  1. Hey Suzanne,

Welcome to Raven’s 12 hosting Gallybloggers.

Thank you for visiting and supporting our positive intention with kind words and a kind smile.

We were encouraged by your Gravatar profile. In particular our interest drawn to your geographical location. India is stunning, both diverse and beautiful and will always remain the jewel in Gaia’s Crown. She does however have her Homeless.

‘According to the 2011 Census, there were 1.77 million homeless people in India, or 0.15% of the country’s total population. There is a shortage of 18.78 million houses in the country. Total number of houses has increased from 52.06 million to 78.48 million (as per 2011 census).’ ~ Wiki search on Google ~

It is important to remember there are no National figures for Homelessness. It is a statistic ‘recorded differently in each nation, and because many homeless people do not show up in official statistics at all.’ (http://www.crisis.org.uk/index.php)

Accurate and sincere collation of National Statistics for every Nation in the world would offer a better indication of the depth and true extent of Homelessness and its impact on individual lives and communities around the world. There would be much to glean from such an endeavour for example facilitating targeted expenditure, enabling specific provision, and perhaps offering anticipation of emerging trends, such as those current on a global basis in areas of political upheaval and war.

    Love and Peace!
